Recently, Shanghai Huayang Maritime Technology Development Co., Ltd. was commissioned by Sinopec Shanghai Offshore Oil Bureau to officially launch a special skills training and competition activity for senior crew members under the theme of "the strongest operation in basic key positions". This cooperation focuses on the core practical capabilities of navigation technology and marine engineering, aiming to comprehensively enhance the professional competence and emergency response level of Sinopec's crew through the dual track mode of "training and competition" in order to build a solid barrier for maritime operation safety.

The event will be held from September 9th to 10th, 2025, at the Shanghai Crew Assessment Demonstration Center and the Shanghai Huayang Dynamic Positioning (DP) Training Center, covering 41 core crew members of Sinopec Shanghai Offshore Oil Bureau. This contains 20 captains and pilots, 21 chief engineers, engineers, and electronic and electrical personnel. Differentiated training content will be customized for different positions to ensure accurate matching of professional needs.

In the maritime technology sector, training and competitions revolve around two core areas: Bridge Resource Management (BRM) and DP platform based operations. In the training of bridge resource management, crew members work in groups of 4 to immerse themselves in emergency scenarios such as ship avoidance, foggy navigation, obstacle avoidance, oil spill, and servo failure on a professional simulator. They complete the full process operation assessment within 45 minutes. DP platform based operations strictly follow maritime operation standards, accurately controlling the ship's speed and heading from 2 nautical miles away. After controlling key nodes of 1 nautical mile and 500 meters, it finally achieves safe berthing with the platform from 3 to 10 meters. During the competition, unexpected situations such as sudden changes in wind flow and equipment failures are randomly set to comprehensively test the team's collaboration and emergency response capabilities. Both competitions will award first, second, and third prizes to promote improvement through competition.

The marine engineering sector focuses on the core skills of equipment operation and maintenance, and sets up four major training competition projects. In the install and dismantle measurement process of centrifugal pumps and motors, the operators of the second and third tube wheels and motors need to standardize the preparation of operations, equipment disassembly and key component measurement, and strengthen safety operation awareness through oral communication. The ship refrigeration system management and analysis project has enabled the engineers to comprehensively and systematically learn the principles of equipment operation and troubleshooting, enhancing their equipment maintenance capabilities. The measurement and adjustment of diesel engine valve clearance, as well as the measurement and analysis of crankshaft shift difference, are aimed at key positions such as the chief engineer and the large pipe driver. From understanding the differences in tool use and cold and hot state adjustment to judging the axis state, the professional foundation is gradually strengthened layer by layer. All projects will be evaluated in three dimensions: preparation, operation process, and completion effect. Exceeding the deadline will result in deduction of points to ensure the implementation of skill standards. Each project will be awarded first, second, and third prizes.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the training competition, Shanghai Huayang carefully coordinates various guarantee work, which is responsible for providing equipment support such as training venues and simulators throughout the process. Shanghai Huayang arranges dedicated vehicles to transport students to and from accommodation hotels, training venues, and provides daily lunch services. At the same time, a team of senior training teachers will be formed, responsible for practical demonstrations and skill guidance, as well as serving as competition judges to ensure fair and professional assessment. In addition, a dedicated person will be fully responsible for the safety of the trainees during the training period to establish a safety bottom line for this event.

As a professional organization focusing on crew skills training, Shanghai Huayang has always taken "precise empowerment of maritime talents" as its core. This cooperation with Sinopec Shanghai Offshore Oil Bureau is not only a recognition of the company's professional strength, but also an important practice for both sides to jointly safeguard the safety of maritime operations. In the future, Shanghai Huayang will continue to deepen its involvement in maritime training, cultivate more high-quality skilled talents for the industry, and contribute to the high-quality development of the marine economy.
